I have a first-class degree in photography, from this I have developed a strong visual sense and understand how to communicate with an audience. Since graduating I have expanded my passions into art direction, producing and marketing.

understanding a brands visual identity

original magazine x beyond retro

I have a strong understanding of the importance of a brands aesthetic and ethos and therefore being able to translate this into something visual. Starting with research and mood boards to creative direction, photography and editing. My role within this collaboration was to help create the mood boards for this shoot, location scouting, as well as photographing and editing the images. When approaching the research for this I took into consideration the brands visual identity and target audience and thought about how I could translate this into something that was visually compelling and told a story.

Working within a team meant I had to communicate my ideas clearly with others so that our creative vision could come to life.

key focuses for the imagery

editorial art direction

When it comes to editorial art direction my aim is to come up with creative concepts and translate them into a piece of visual storytelling that can evoke feeling, thought or emotion to the viewer. This skill allows me to interpret briefs and understand how an audience may react to certain things. I pay a lot of attention to detail, and this comes from detailed research and planning right through to postproduction. Lots of decisions must be made through this process from location scouting, choosing models, stylists and makeup artist and therefore must have clear communication with everyone in the team and excellent organisation skills.

During my internship I was involved with looking after the social media, in particular TikTok. I understand the importance of keeping up to date with trends and how to use trends to a brands advantage and marketing opportunities.

I am confident and presenting and discussing my ideas in a clear and professional manner. I have pitched ideas to brands and explained how I would approach a brief that they had set out.
